On Tuesday February 13th, 2018, at HNEC headquarters, the Chairman of HNEC, Dr. Emad Al-Sayah, met H.E. Brigitte Curmi, the Ambassador of France to Libya and the accompanying delegation. Mr. Abd Al-Hakim Al-Shaab, HNEC member of Board, attended the meeting. During the meeting, they discussed the progress of the electoral process and HNEC activities related to updating the voter’s register. H.E Ambassador of France confirmed her country’s keenness to achieve stability in Libya, and look forward to the success of the upcoming electoral process.
It worth mentioning that on December 6th, 2017, the HNEC announced the start of updating the registration process, which revealed several facts, the most important of which are: Libyans decided to choose the democratic option as a basis for building the future; they decided to practice their right to vote and participate in decision-making processes, through the only choice which is democracy and peaceful devolution of power. In fact, The turnout of registration exceeded what was planned, and achieved figures that would increase the credibility of the upcoming electoral processes.
