The High National Elections Commission received an official invitation from the Independent Electoral Commission of Burkina Faso (CENI) to observe the parliamentary and presidential elections for the Burkinabe community in Libya, which will be held next Sunday at the Embassy headquarters in Tripoli.
This came during the meeting that took place today, Wednesday, November 18th, 2020, between the Chairman of the Board of the HNEC Dr. Emad Al-Sayah, and H.E. the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Libya, Mr. Abraham Traore, in the presence of the Head of the External Operations Department of HNEC, Dr. Abdul Ghani Daa’boub, at the headquarter of the Commission.
The meeting reviewed the democratic experience under the supervision of the two electoral administrations in each of the two countries, and discussed ways of communication to explore cooperation opportunities between the two administrations as a step towards building strong relations between the institutions of the African Union. The meeting also reviewed the Commission’s preparations and readiness for the implementation of the upcoming electoral events.
Dr. Al-Sayah expressed his appreciation to the Burkina Faso embassy for the invitation to observe the parliamentary and presidential elections, which indicates the trust and impartiality enjoyed by the High National Elections Commission and the efficiency of its technical cadre. He also emphasized the assignment of a team from the Commission to participate in monitoring the Burkinabe elections, and to learn about the mechanisms and implementation of the out of country elections followed by the Independent Elections Commission (CENI) of Burkina Faso.
