The Unit of Supporting the Persons with disabilities of HNEC has concluded on Tuesday, 17 August 2020, an online program for exchange of experiences, with the participation of the Training Department of the HNEC, and in cooperation with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES Libya) and participants from the Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections (CCMCE) and other organizations concerned with persons with disabilities, on accessibility of polling centers for PWDs.
The program, which lasted for two days, aims at exchanging experiences in the electoral field with employees of the sub-committees for Municipal Council Elections, with regards to the mechanisms required for supervising the polling centers accessible for PWDs in order to allow them to participate in local elections.
The Head of the Unit of Supporting the Persons with Disabilities, Mrs. Magda Al-Katib, expressed her appreciation for the cooperation between the HNEC and the CCMCE, and she stated that, the program targeted on its first day trainers from Ghat Municipality, and on the second day, trainers from the Municipalities of Kikla, Sharkia and Traghen, adding that, this is considered to be the first attempt of cooperation between the two institutions, to contribute to building a comprehensive system of available centers accessible for PWDs in accordance with international standards.
