Women Support Unit of the High National Elections Commission discussed on Tuesday, 28 July 2020, the proposals submitted by the Women Electoral Outreach Ambassadors at the headquarters of the HNEC.
This came during the meeting held by the head of the unit, Ms. Enas Al-Tuwaini, with the training team that supervised the training of the first group of the Women Outreach Ambassadors program, which included: Ms. Hoda Snouga, Mrs. Zahira Obaid, and Ms. Asma Slik. Envelopes submitted by the women ambassadors were opened during this meeting to review them and discuss the possibility of their implementation in line with the general plan of the Women Support Unit.
Ms. Al-Tuwaini explained that the aim of this step is to assess the extent of the ambassadors’ response to the training material previously provided to them, and to identify the training needs for future sessions. Regarding the level of the submitted proposals, Ms. Al-Tuwaini stated, “There is a variation in the levels of response and awareness of the electoral process, as some of the proposals were appropriate, or may need adjustments, while others were tainted by a lot of confusion, especially with regard to the concepts and differences between municipal council elections and legislative elections.
It is worth noting that (Women Outreach Ambassadors) is a program launched by the Commission during 2019, by nominating volunteer women to join electoral awareness activities in all cities of Libya after they receive the appropriate training.
