On Monday, March 29th, 2021, the HNEC Chairman DR. Emad Al-Sayah, welcomed the UN Special Envoy in Libya, H.E. Mr. Jan Kubis, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of HNEC Board Member, Mr. Abdulhakim Al-Shaab, at HNEC Board Office.
At the beginning, H.E. the UN Special Envoy expressed his appreciation to the national and the international efforts that contributed to achieving the unity, sovereignty and stability of Libya; appreciating the political parties’ vision towards the electoral track. He confirmed the importance of the role entrusted to HNEC in the next phase, and the consequent national obligations.
H.E. Kubis discussed the possible ways for providing international support to HNEC, highlighting the commitment of the United Nations to complete the stages of the democratic process by supporting HNEC at this important phase in Libya’s history.
On his part, Dr. Al-Sayah reviewed the technical and logistical preparations of HNEC, its level of readiness with regard to the infrastructure to implement the elections, and the considerable technical and administrative experience HNEC gained after conducting many national electoral events.
