The visits of representatives of Embassies and International Missions to the HNEC continued within the framework of the international community’s support for the electoral process in Libya; as Dr. Emad Al-Sayahm HNEC Chairman welcomed, on Thursdau March 25th, 2021, H.E. Mr. Nicholas Hopton, in the presence of the two HNEC Board Members, Mr. Abd Al-Hakim Al-Shaab and Mr. Abo-Baker Marda, at HNEC Board office.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments related to the electoral process in Libya, the HNEC’s preparations and its readiness to implement the upcoming elections, and the support and expertise that could be provided in the field of election management and implementation. Further, they reviewed the preparations for signing the agreement between the UK government and the United Nations Development Program, on the margins of this visit; as this agreement addresses the means to support the HNEC, through the “PEPOL” project.
