At HNEC Headquarters, on Tuesday evening, March16th, 2021, the training course for female electoral awareness Ambassadors was concluded, which was supervised by the HNEC Women Support Unit, in cooperation with IFES. The closing session was attended by the General Director, Dr. Yahya Al-Jadeed, the Head of the Public Outreach Department, Mr. Al-Hadi Al-Gurgouti, and the Head of the Women’s Support Unit, Mrs. Suzan Hami.
In his speech on this occasion, Dr. Al-Jadeed appreciated the efforts of the participants and the positive interaction they showed with the plans of the HNEC, praising the cooperation with IFES and its supportive contribution in preparation for the upcoming elections. He confirmed that HNEC welcomes and supports the proposals presented by the Ambassadors as outputs of the training program. The training course has been organized with the participation of 24 trainees, who were educated during the past days on citizenship and elections, field awareness plans directed at women, and how to formulate electoral awareness messages.
A group of female participants talked about their experience of involvement in this program and their future aspirations for women’s participation in elections, and their role on the political map as partners in building the nation and establishing democratic values as a basis for stability and progress.
It worth mentioning that the “Awareness Ambassadors” is a program launched by the HNEC during 2019, by selecting some women volunteers to join electoral awareness activities, in all cities of Libya, after receiving the appropriate training.
