During a meeting, held at HNEC Headquarters, with representatives of the Preparatory Committee for the establishment of the Libyan Women’s Union, Dr. Emad Al-Sayah, HNEC Chairman discussed some issues related to women’s electoral participation and ways to enhance it, in cooperation with women civil society organizations.

The meeting, which was attended by HNEC Board Member, Mrs. Rabab Halab, reviewed the women’s electoral awareness plan and the possibility of involving the Women Union in implementing a package of future programs and activities, aimed at enhancing women’s electoral participation.

The HNEC Chairman confirmed that the HNEC is relying on the civil society sector, in implementing its awareness plans and programs, noting that the Libyan Women Union, which will bring together a wide range of women’s organizations, will have an effective role in the success of the awareness campaigns, for the elections to be held during December 2021.

The meeting also discussed the cooperation mechanism for the success of the elections of the Women’s Union, in its next session, and the advisory support that the HNEC will provide in this regard
