MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETS PUBLIC OUTREACH COORDINATORS IN BENGHAZI AND PRAISES THEIR ROLE

The member of the Board of the High National Elections Commission, Mr. Abu Bakr Marda, followed up on the activities of the Public Outreach & External Relations Coordinators in the Electoral Administration Offices of the eastern and southeastern regions, and their level of readiness to implement the awareness activities accompanying the upcoming electoral events.

This came in a meeting held in Benghazi on Wednesday, 2nd December 2020, as part of a working visit, where he was accompanied by the Commission’s Head of Persons with Disabilities Support Unit, Mrs. Magda Al-Katib.

 

The Public Outreach Coordinators reviewed the reports of their work achieved during the second half of 2020, and presented their proposals for awareness activities and programs that would enhance electoral participation, stressing the importance of such meetings in resolving the obstacles that may face the implementation of the work assigned to them.

 

For his part, the Board member praised the role of the Public Outreach Coordinators for the success of implementing the previous electoral events through awareness campaigns aimed at enhancing participation, stressing the need to increase the pace of work in preparation for the next electoral event scheduled for December 24th of 2021.

 

It is noteworthy that, the city of Benghazi witnessed, in the presence of the member of the Board of Commissioners, Mr. Abu Bakr Marda, the implementation of a training package targeting the Public Outreach Coordinators in the Electoral Administration Offices in the Eastern region on the basics of comprehensive journalism, in addition to a capacity building program for the project engineers of the Benghazi Electoral Office, with the participation of project engineers from the Ministry of Education and civil society organizations on the comprehensive design of accessible polling centers.
