The Benghazi Electoral Administration Office witnessed the organization of a workshop on “Electoral Risks and their Impact on the Participation of Women in Elections”, in the presence of a number of CSOs concerned with women in Benghazi and its neighboring areas.
The workshop, which was organized in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which falls on the 25th of November of each year, came within the awareness programmer launched by the Women Support Unit of Benghazi Office, in coordination with the Public Outreach & External Relations Department of the HNEC.
The Head of the Women Support Unit in Benghazi, Ms. Wafaa Al-Makki, explained that the workshop covered a variety of themes, including the definition of violence against women, the electoral risks and their forms, as well as reviewing extracts from laws that support electoral violence prevention, and modeling some international experiences of women’s participation in the democratic process.
It is noteworthy that the cities of Tripoli and Sabha witnessed the organization of similar workshops at the end of last November in the framework of enhancing the participation of women and educating them of electoral risks.
