Today, Monday, November 30th, 2020, the Women Support Unit of the High National Elections Commission organized a workshop titled “Electoral Risks and their Impact on the Participation of Women in Elections” targeting representatives of CSOs concerned with women, at the headquarters of the General Administration of the Commission.
The workshop agenda was inaugurated by Ms. Inas Al-Tuwaini, head of the Women Support Unit, in which she welcomed the participants, noting that this activity comes within the framework of raising awareness of the importance of violence prevention against women, especially violence related to participation in elections, and how to address this issue in accordance with international and local laws and legislations.
The workshop program covered a variety of topics, including the definition of violence against women, electoral risks and their manifestations, and international experiences of women’s participation in the democratic process, in addition to presenting extracts from laws in support of combating violence against women.
It is worth noting that this workshop is the second of its kind during this month, as the unit organized the first workshop on November 25, targeting the female employees of the General Administration of the Commission. Similar workshops will be held under the supervision of the corresponding units in the Electoral Administration Offices in Benghazi and Sabha
