The Board of Commissioners of the High National Elections Commission affirmed the commitment of the Commission to the text of the resolution issued by the Presidential Council to allocate a budget to cover the costs of implementation of the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 24, 2021, and to put the resolution into effect.
This came during the meeting held by the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Emad Al-Sayeh, today, Monday, November 30th, 2020, in the presence of the member of the Board of Commissioners, Mr. Abdul Hakim Al-cha`ab, the Director General of the Commission, Dr. Yahya Al-Jadid, a number of Heads of the departments and offices, and the Financial Auditor of HNEC.
The meeting reviewed the necessary arrangements to implement the Presidential Council Resolution No. (851) of 2020 regarding the allocation of a budget to the Commission to cover the costs of the presidential and parliamentary elections, in line with and adhering to the instructions outlined in the resolution. In addition to defining the parameters and restrictions of utilization of this fund in accordance with the appropriate laws and legislation.
Dr. Al-Sayeh stressed in this meeting that, the Commission adopts the transparency principle when it comes to the procedures and object of expenditure of the allocated budget through the preparation and submission of periodic reports to the oversight authorities, as well as taking all measures to mitigate the approaches and practices that lead to wasting of public money.
The Commission had received the Presidential Council’s resolution in November, which stipulates the allocation of (50) million dinars to cover the expenses of the electoral operations scheduled to take place in December 2021.
