The Chairman of the HNEC, Dr. Imad Al-Sayeh, confirmed the HNEC’s readiness to organize any electoral processes throughout Libya at any time.
This came in a meeting held in the capital, Tripoli, on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020, with the President of the Presidential Council, Mr. Fayez Al-Sarraj.
From his side, Mr. Al-Sarraj pointed out that the Presidential Council is keen to create the appropriate objective conditions for conducting electoral processes, considering it a public demand requested by all Libyans in order to establish legitimacy from its primary source, and emphasizing the need to provide the requirements and needs of the HNEC to carry out the tasks entrusted to it, and to move forward to build a national civil state founded on principles of democracy, citizenship and the peaceful devolution of power.
The High National Elections Commission has announced on previous occasions its readiness to organize and conduct electoral processes and to open the door for partnership with civil and media institutions to enhance the level of electoral participation.
