A workshop was organized in April 11th, 2018, on Women participation in elections, as part of the scheduled activities for the HNEC pavilion participating in the 46thsession of Tripoli International Fair.
This workshop targeted NGOs that are concerned with women awareness in addition to some interested persons, journalists and visitors.
Ms. Areej Alajeli, the Head of Women Empowerment Unit at HNEC initiated the workshop with a presentation about women participation in the previous three elections, in addition to the percentage of women participation in the registration process that was concluded recently.
The first theme in the workshop discussed the (Social Perspective) of women participation presented by Dr. Abdein Al-Sharif. In his paper, he discoursed the role of political participation of women in the achievement of the principle of justice according to the gender perspective.
Whereas, the second theme discussed the historical dimension, presented by Mr. Younes Al-Fenadi through a paper entitled: “Political participation of women, and the consolidation of women rights for future generations”.
The third theme of the session was discussed by Mr. Mohamed Al Ae’rij from HNEC legal affairs office and discussed the (Legislative dimension) of women participation, in which he demonstrated the importance of the political participation of women to guarantee civil rights.
