  • (Special / HNEC website): on May 13th, 2017, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) organized the second edition of the Libyan Forum for Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with the participation of HNEC and representatives from civil society organizations concerned with persons with disabilities. This edition is held under the slogan: (Towards a media that supports the rights of persons with disabilities). The HNEC was represented in this forum by the Director of the Awareness Department, Mr. Sadig Al-Zakkar, and the awareness coordinators: Mr. Abd El-Wahab Belhaj, Mrs. Aaesha Thabbout and Mr. Khalid Al-Mannaee, in addition to Mr. Mohammed Al-Sokni and Mr. Mohammed Al-Serti, from HNEC Tripoli Office. During the program, Mrs. Aaesha Thabbout delivered a presentation on the actions taken by HNEC to promote the participation of persons with disabilities in elections. The Forum also included a presentation on schools education program, the stereotype of disability in the media, and the challenges and prospects of disability in the Libyan media. The Forum concluded with some recommendations, including: • Developing some programs for persons with disabilities to recognizing their rights and priorities through the media. • Activating the role of CSOs, taking care of persons with disabilities in communicating with the media. • Training persons with disabilities by media specialists to enhance their practical capacities.

  • In the framework of its efforts to improve the skills of its staff, working at the general administration and at its electoral management offices, and to take advantage of time to develop the skills of its staff in various areas, both those related to the electoral process or other administrative and financial fields; And to enhance and continue the cooperation between HNEC and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), the HNEC has launched the four-days training program (developing and writing reports and Presentation Skills), on Monday 15th of May, 2017, at Al-Wadan Hotel, in Tripoli. This training program aims at providing participants with the necessary scientific skills to write high-quality reports, as well as providing participants with the presentation skills they need in their work to present and submit their reports, plans and programs. The participants included Directors of HNEC departments and sections, in addition to some employees at the general administration, as well as training supervisors working at electoral offices from the East, West and South of the country.
